We set off on our holiday to Croatia with Leger Coaches. We met up with our friends Nick and Olwen at the interchange at Folkestone where our coach drivers John and Tony were already waiting for us. We travelled to Folkestone on one of the new Leger Luxuria coaches which is one of the first of this new range of luxury coaches but we thought that whilst improving the quality and specification of the coach, maybe some of the atmosphere of our favourite Silver Service coaches had been lost. However, our driver for this short journey from the pick-up in Canterbury (Nana) did make us laugh and no doubt the coach would have grown on us.
Once we had crossed the channel and started on our way to the overnight stop near Rheims, the holiday really started as John served us with our first G&T in the rear lounge. Our journey to Croatia was the longest we have experienced on a Leger holiday with two overnight hotel stops and an overnight ferry (with cabin) across the Adriatic to Split. However, we don't mind this part of the holiday as we like to watch the world go by, read a bit and socialise in the lounge with our new found friends on the coach. Plus the overnight stops can be interesting with some good and not always so good hotels but usually comfortable and OK for a nights sleep. Our second overnight stop was in Cremona, Italy with a beautiful view from our hotel bedroom and a nice breakfast in a local cafe where we were serenaded by local musicians (!) for money of course. The accommodation and meal were excellent at this hotel and with a very unusual mod-pop decoration we would recommend this for future stops.
We managed a few laughs on the way and were blessed with royalty on the coach as Charles and Camilla, the Queen and Prince Philip and Prince Andrew had all decided to go on a Leger holiday this year (well finances are tight for everyone these days!!)
